Technology
- LITMUS RAPID-B® is the result of a multi-year collaboration between LITMUS and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and their National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR) in Jefferson, Arkansas. This research & development produced an innovative, rapid microbial detection & enumeration method. The outcome of that effort, combining flow cytometry and unique, proprietary chemistry & analytical software, is the RAPID-B system.
- RAPID-B system components include a flow cytometer and personal computer, while consumables include a proprietary sample-collection device and target-specific reagent "cups".
- RAPID-B™ technology provides quantitative results from un-enriched samples within minutes across a broad & expanding list of targets, including Listeria spp, Salmonella, generic E. coli or O157, Campylobacter and Total Plate Count. The technology further discriminates viable, sub-lethally injured and dead target cells at a sensitivity level of 1 CFU per 100uL aliquot.
- Products Currently Under Development:
- omniprint - proof of concept platform to identify pathogens and chemical contamination in one sample. Ideally suited for import product screening.
- rapid-v - will utilize the basic RAPID-B assays to identify viruses.
